Electrical and Systems Engineering (ESE) Award Descriptions
Award: $1,000 each team
The Fred Ketterer Memorial Award is given annually to the senior design team in the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering who demonstrates outstanding creativity in an engineering design incorporating hardware.

The Honorable Harold Berger Award is given to the senior design team in the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering whose outstanding senior design project combines conceptual or technical innovation with an entrepreneurial possibility.

The Norman Gross Senior Design Project Award in Electrical and Systems Engineering has been created in honor and recognition of Norman Gross. The award is given annually by the faculty of the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering to the senior design team whose outstanding senior design project exemplifies Norman Gross’s personal achievements and professional accomplishments.
Award: $1,000 each team
The Societal Impact Award is given annually by the faculty of the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering to the senior design team whose outstanding senior design team project is based on information systems that addresses societal problems.
Award: $1000 each team
The Ken Laker Technology Integration Award is presented to the senior design team in the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering whose outstanding senior design project captures successful integration of emerging technologies from various engineering disciplines.
Dr. Kenneth R. Laker, former chair of the Electrical and Systems Engineering Department and President of the IEEE, was a renowned and dedicated educator. He originated and advocated for interdepartmental senior design and was instrumental in guiding students through the Senior Design Project.
